Fun in Sonoma

A couple weeks ago, my wife and I spent the weekend up in Sonoma in the beautiful Wine Country. A fascinating town full of history, art, and good food, Sonoma has a little something for everyone. Jack London built his house there, some of the best grapes in the world are grown nearby, and the California Bear Flag was first raised in the Sonoma town square during the Bear Flag Revolt.

Needless to say, my wife and I had a great time. We we’re only gone one night, and it was our first evening away from the baby, but fortunately all turned out well. Between the bookshops, a great pub, and some awesome restaurants we didn’t need to think twice about wanting to come back.

So how have your last few weeks been? Gearing up for Thanksgiving? How are you enjoying the fall season?

  1. Oh, that's a place I really want to visit some day. I'd love to go on a few wine tours, or even the wine train I've read about. Glad you got a night away.

    And have a happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Yeah, I've heard the wine train is fun, but every time I pass it, I see that it doesn't actually go anywhere, just back and forth over a couple stops:)

  2. You need to get away, just the two of your. Sonoma and wine country sound like a great place to do it.
Short work week and then ready for Thanksgiving!

  3. Nice tidbit about Jack London. Short trips are the most fun. Too much food this time of year but I do enjoy it!

  4. Sonoma is such a beautiful area, with such an interesting history. (I live in Sacramento, not too far away.) I'm glad you and your wife a rich experience visiting Sonoma. Jack London is such a colorful figure, not only there, but also in Oakland. And California is full of wineries.

For my own part, I've been busiy with a new WIP, but can't help noticing the beautiful autumn colors all through north-central California. We have been making our Thanksgiving plans, and I must say, this year I have much to be thankful for.

  8. I'm jealous! We drove through Napa and Sonoma on our way to the beach from Vacaville when we were there this summer and we didn't stop! We couldn't get anyone to keep the baby boyo.
Wife and I are just going to have to go back!
