Stand with Ukraine

We continue to live in extraordinary times, and none more heartbreaking than the current war in Ukraine. I won't waste time recapping what we all already know, and the obviousness of such naked aggression against the men, women, and children of Ukraine by Putin and his armed forces. None of us want to see anyone die, neither Ukrainian nor Russian. Just as we see incredible heroics by the Ukrainians themselves, there are also strong voices of protest from within Russia as well. President Zelensky has truly shown himself to be a modern day Churchill in his courage and determination to continue to remain in and defend Kyiv.

So what can we, the rest of the world do? We certainly cannot sit idly by while a literal warmonger invades one sovereign nation today when he might easily do the same to any of us tomorrow. The threat of nuclear conflict hangs over every decision, further complicating an already complex situation. But as the saying goes, all that is required for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing. That is a luxury none of us can afford.

So please stand with Ukraine today, any way that you can. They need money, logistical and material support. Refugees in neighboring countries need supplies and funding too. The disinformation war is real, and even humble blogs (like this one) or other social media that state the truth and solidarity of the free world present one more obstacle to the forces of oppression.

Donate what you can. Show what support you can. Speak the truth whenever you can. Pray. Love. Help.

And stand with Ukraine.

  1. And be aware of what your own country is doing to help. There are things they could and should be doing but aren't.

    1. Definitely. Hopefully they do more, especially if people keep speaking out.

    1. Sure is. It is both heartbreaking and inspiring all at once.

  3. Ukrainians across the world should be totally proud of their country, and I'm certain they are. What Putin has done is unthinkable. He needs to be stopped before he tries a repeat.

    1. Definitely. I just hope he isn't replaced by someone just like him.

  5. Hello Mark. You are so right. We cannot stand by and do NOTHING. Even if it is just putting support Ukraine posts on our blogs, that is something. What is happening there is beyond tragic. God help the Ukrainian people, especially the little children.

    1. Hi Susan:) It is heartbreaking to see the suffering people are enduring. As powerless as it can seem, anything we can do must be done.

  6. Well said. My son just joined the Army and as the mom of four young men of fighting ages, I'm not at all eager to join the fray, but I'm also rational enough to know that power mongers don't stop just because you shake a finger at them and that what is happening is inhuman.

    1. Totally understand. I know your son will be proud of his service, but I sincerely hope we can maintain some peace for all. Putin wants war, so we have to find a way to thwart him without it coming to that. Easier said than done, of course.

  7. <3 Nicely said.

I know the world and, especially, the US are weary of conflict, but really? Adolph Putin can't be allowed to get away with this.

I'm beyond irritated that the world was so quick to go to Kuwait's defense when Iraq invaded yet has been so wishy washy with this aggression. And Ukraine is a democracy while Kuwait is not. Please tell me support of Kuwait wasn't just about the oil.

    1. Unfortunately, it all comes down to nukes. Russia has them and is willing to use them, and that precludes us from direct intervention. We must find a way to oppose Putin without direct war. It'll be tricky, but necessary.

  8. It is beyond tragic. We have to do everything we can to help but there is a catch 22 of direct military intervention potentially causing all out nuclear war. The way out of this is not straightforward and it's easy to think there's worse to come. I'm glad the UK are now being encouraged to open our homes to refugees, but we've been far too slow to cut through the red tape. People have lost everything.

    1. I completely agree, Nick. I am at once cautious and hopeful, and maybe that's the most sane attitude we can have toward such insanity these days.

  9. Well-said! It's horrible what's going on over there.
