Insecure Writer’s Day

Hmm…it’s been a few weeks since I kept to my regular blogging schedule, and I suppose that’s my insecurity for this month. I love writing, reading, and blogging, but with the new job I started last month I’ve been pretty strapped for time. Fortunately, everything is going really well and I’m hoping to get back into the blogging groove.

I suppose I just worry that fellow bloggers might become disinterested after I “disappeared” from the blog-o-sphere for a while, and I admit that even now I don’t have quite as much time as I once did to get certain things done. I usually give other bloggers at least a month before I start wondering whether they’ve abandoned their blog, but I don’t know if I can expect the same in return. Hopefully, I’ll find a way to balance my schedule once again.

Everyone has jobs, school, kids, etc. taking up time in their lives, so how do you balance it all? Do you have set times of day set aside for blogging? Do you limit yourself to only a certain amount of time on the blog-o-sphere at once? How do you keep a routine in an ever-changing world?

  1. I won't abandon you Mark!
I do most of my blogging during the day from work. Yes, I love my job.

  2. Hello Mark:
It is absolutely true that blogging is a very time consuming activity and, strangely, it does seem that when one is absent from the Blogosphere for just a short period, it 'feels' much longer. However, one has to find a balance somehow. We try to be very organised and not post too often. In that way we can give attention to other bloggers as well as answer comments on our own. It is, we think, always important to signal to one's readers when one might be absent for a while. And, of course, there are two of us!!!

  3. I feel the same way! But you can only do what you can do. Find your blogging limit, then stick with it and don't feel guilty. It's the best you can do, and we (at least I) understand. :)

  4. I usually blog either in the afternoon or evening, and no more than a couple hours at a time. The latter's mostly because I have other stuff to do, and blogging can be a bit of a time-zapper.

  5. I've been terrible at blogging lately too, and I'm going to be especially terrible from June 18th to August 23rd.

    It happens.

  6. When I first started blogging I thought I had to blog three times a week. Then it dropped to two. Now, if I have to miss a post because I've got other things to do, I don't let it bother me. I don't think anyone will abandon you if your blogging slows down. We can appreciate what it's like to have a busy life.

  7. Like Alex, I too won't desert you Mark. I badly need my precious CP as I am writing a whole lot of books ;)

The only advice I can give is you can bring down your blogging from twice a week to once, just like I have done. That has been a blessing for me.

  8. I heard that is is good to blog on a set schedule and post your schedule on your blog, or to blog everyday. But, honestly that seems a bit much for me. I want to keep blogging fun! As long as you don't drop completely off the face of the planet, I think you should be fine. I wouldn't force myself to write a blog if I didn't feel like it.

    BTW, new follower here :)

  9. Don't worry, man; your fellow bloggers aren't going anywhere. As for me, I usually post new content on Sundays and return comments on Wednesdays -- takes me about an hour each day, so it's manageable. And so worth it. This online writing community is great!

  10. I'm terrible at keeping a schedule. I just steal away moments at the computer when I can. This is my first visit to your blog. Nice to meet you ;) and good luck with the new job!

  11. Blogging was starting to take over so I've had to set a blogging schedule and stick to it. It's not always possible and at the moment I'm a little behind. Eek!
