Attending San Francisco Writer’s Conference

-->

This upcoming weekend I’ll be attending the annual San Francisco Writer’s Conference at the Mark Hopkins Hotel. This is my third time attending the conference and I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces as well as making new friends. This also marks the tenth year that this great conference has been in existence.

I’ll be promoting my latest historical thriller, Caesar’s Revenge, which you can learn more about here. In addition, I’ll be listening to great talks by famous writers, including this year’s guest speaker R.L. Stine (famous for his Goosebumps book series). There will also be many literary agents in attendance who I will meet with during the “speed-dating” sessions on the last day of the conference.

What writer’s conferences do you like to attend? What experiences have you come away with that helped make you a little wiser? Anybody else going to be attending the SFWC this coming weekend?

  1. Hello Mark:
This really does sound to be a most interesting event with the opportunity to meet up with other writers as well, of course, as publishers too. We wish you a most successful conference in what we believe to be a wonderful city.

  2. I'm a SCBWI conference addict. I love them. I love their big conferences and their smaller chapter retreats. The SFWC looks fabulous. Have fun!

  3. Hope the conference leads to great things for you! I've never attended one, so no idea what it's like.

  4. I always thought R.L. Stine was a woman! Oops, my bad...

Hope you have a great time and wow those agents. I have only a vague grip on what conferences are in the UK, but I hope to get to one someday!

  5. Fun!! Have a great time and sell that novel!

Anymore the only conference I attend is the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers conference in Denver. It's a good one, and it isn't too expensive, which is always a plus.

  6. Hope you have a great time at SFWC! :)

I've never been to a writer's conference--or a conference of any kind, actually.

  7. My students loved R.L.Stine, back in the day. Hope you have great success. I hope to attend the convention in November, Newport Beach.

  10. I attended the SFWC last year for the first time, but can't make it this time around. I wish you all the luck, learning and meeting!

Next weekend I will be attending the Christian Writer's Seminar in Castro Valley, CA. Not quite a conference, but similar, and I'm looking forward to finding out so much. I've never been to it before.

  12. I hear so much about the San Francisco Writer's Conference that I'd like to go sometime. I usually go now and then to an SCBWI Conference, since most of the books I'm marketing are for children or tweens. But I also am working on a story collection for adults, so I would be interested in your report on SFWC when you get back. Best of luck in finding either and agent or publisher. Your book sounds quite interesting.

  13. Oh this sounds like fun! And I've never been to San Francisco. Will have to change that.

So far, I've only been to a local SCBWI conference in good ol' WI, but it was SO much fun. I'm attending LDStorymakers this year and am SO excited because I get to see so many writing buds for the first time!

I hope the conference is amazing for you!
